You cannot fix what you cannot see. An AI Visibility Audit (our GEO audit) shows you, prompt by prompt, whether AI engines mention and cite your brand when your buyers ask questions — or whether they are naming your competitors instead. We test the engines your customers actually use, measure your standing against a fixed set of competitors across five metrics, and hand you a prioritised list of the fixes that will move you fastest. It is the clearest, lowest-commitment way to understand your position in AI answers, and the natural first step before any GEO build sprint or monthly monitoring.

What the audit is

The audit is a one-time diagnostic, not a retainer. Its job is to replace guesswork with evidence. Instead of wondering whether "people are finding us through ChatGPT," you get a documented baseline: the exact prompts we tested, the engines we tested them on, how often you were named, how often you were cited as a source, and how that compares to your competitors. We test 20–30 real buyer prompts — the questions a genuine customer would type when researching your category — across ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini and Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot (Microsoft) and Claude (Anthropic). We run each prompt multiple times, because large language model answers vary by run, user and location, so a single check would be misleading. The result is a realistic, dated snapshot you can act on and re-measure later. For background on the discipline, see what GEO is and GEO vs SEO.

Exactly what you receive

This is the part most providers leave vague. Here is the concrete deliverable:

  • Your baseline across five metrics. Using our AI Visibility Measurement framework, we report: Brand Mention Rate (how often engines name you), Citation Rate (how often they link you as a source), Share of Voice (your presence versus your competitors), Citation Source Distribution (which source types — your pages, reviews, directories, publications, community threads — the engines rely on), and, where analytics access allows, an initial read on Conversion Contribution.
  • A prompt-by-prompt breakdown. For each tested prompt, you see which brands the engines named, whether you appeared, and which sources were cited — so the findings are transparent, not a single summary score you have to trust blindly.
  • A competitor gap against 2–3 named competitors. We measure you against the competitors you nominate, so you can see precisely where they are winning answers you are absent from.
  • A prioritised fix list. The specific, ranked actions that will move you fastest — tied to real pages and signals (entity inconsistencies, non-extractable content, thin citation footprint, crawl blocks, or inaccurate facts the engines are repeating about you).

You own this deliverable whether or not you continue with us. You can hand the fix list to your own team, or ask us to implement it.

The process

The process is deliberately light on your side. Step 1 — you submit a short form: your website, your main target market, and two or three competitors you want to be measured against. Step 2 — we build the prompt set: 20–30 real buyer prompts that reflect how customers actually research your category. Step 3 — we test: every prompt, across the engines, multiple runs, standardised and dated. Step 4 — we analyse: we score the five metrics, map the competitor gap, and identify the specific reasons you are being left out. Step 5 — we deliver: a clear report plus a prioritised fix list, and a short walkthrough if you want one. From there, continuing is entirely optional.

Price

ServiceScopePrice (USD)
AI Visibility Audit20–30 prompts · 5-metric baseline · competitor gap · prioritised fix list$300–800 (one-time)
(USD — confirm before publishing. We also run a limited free audit for qualifying businesses — ask when you submit.) What moves the price within the range: the number of target prompts, the number of languages, and the number of competitors you want benchmarked. The audit price is one-time; any build or retainer work is scoped separately from the findings, so you are never committing to ongoing spend to get the diagnosis.

What happens after you submit

After you submit the form, we confirm scope and timing (audits are typically delivered within days), build your prompt set, and run the tests. You receive the report and fix list, with an optional walkthrough. There is no obligation to continue. If the audit shows you already perform well, we will tell you so rather than manufacture a problem. If it shows clear gaps, you can take the fix list in-house or commission a GEO Build Sprint to implement it, and move onto monthly monitoring if you want us to track and keep improving your position. The point of the audit is to give you an honest, evidence-based decision — not to funnel you into a package you do not need.

Risks and limitations

We are upfront about what an audit can and cannot tell you. It is a dated snapshot: because AI answers are non-deterministic, your numbers will shift between runs and over time, which is why we test repeatedly and why re-measuring monthly is more useful than a one-off reading. The audit identifies the inputs that influence citations; it cannot guarantee that fixing them will produce a recommendation, because engine behaviour is outside any agency's control. And attribution to revenue is imperfect, since AI answers often produce no trackable click. What the audit reliably gives you is a clear, comparable picture of where you stand and what to do next.

Questions, answered
01What is an AI Visibility Audit (GEO audit)?
An AI Visibility Audit is a one-time diagnostic that shows whether AI engines mention and cite your brand when your buyers ask questions, and how you compare to your competitors. We test 20–30 real buyer prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude, running each prompt multiple times because the answers vary. You receive a baseline across five metrics, a prompt-by-prompt breakdown, a competitor gap, and a prioritised fix list. It is not a retainer and not a vague "AI readiness score" — it is a documented, evidence-based picture of your current position that you own and can re-measure later. Think of it as the diagnosis that tells you whether treatment is even needed, and if so, what to prioritise.
02What exactly do I get in the audit report?
Five things. First, your baseline across our five metrics: Brand Mention Rate, Citation Rate, Share of Voice, Citation Source Distribution, and an initial read on Conversion Contribution where analytics access allows. Second, a prompt-by-prompt breakdown showing which brands each engine named, whether you appeared, and which sources were cited — so nothing is hidden behind a single summary number. Third, a competitor gap measured against the two or three competitors you nominate. Fourth, a prioritised fix list of specific, ranked actions tied to real pages and signals. Fifth, an optional walkthrough. You keep the full deliverable whether or not you continue, so you can hand the fix list to your own team if you prefer to implement it internally.
03How much does the audit cost, and is there a free version?
The paid AI Visibility Audit typically runs $300–800 (USD, confirmed before publishing) as a one-time engagement, with the figure depending on the number of prompts, languages and competitors you want benchmarked. We also run a limited free audit for qualifying businesses, so ask when you submit the form and we will tell you which applies to you. Either way, the audit is a standalone, one-time cost — you are not committing to a retainer or any ongoing spend to receive the diagnosis. If the findings justify implementation or monitoring, we scope that separately from the audit results, so the decision to continue is entirely yours and based on evidence you already hold in hand.
04Which engines do you test in the audit?
We test the engines your buyers actually use: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Google Gemini and Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Anthropic's Claude. Because these systems retrieve and cite sources differently, testing across all of them gives a fuller picture than checking one. We run each prompt multiple times on each engine, since large language model answers are non-deterministic and vary by run, user and location — a single check could easily mislead you in either direction. During scoping we can weight toward the engines most relevant to your audience if you already know where your customers research. The engine set we use for your baseline is the same one we would re-test in future, so your numbers stay comparable over time if you decide to monitor.
05How do you choose the prompts you test?
We build 20–30 prompts that reflect how a genuine customer would research your category — the buying questions, comparisons and "best provider for X" style queries real buyers type, not keywords. We use the market and competitor details you provide, plus category research, to make the set realistic and representative. You can review and adjust the prompts, since you know your buyers; getting the prompt set right is what makes the baseline meaningful. We keep the set fixed afterwards so that any future re-test measures real movement rather than a different question. If your business serves distinct segments or languages, we make sure the prompt set reflects that rather than over-indexing on a single use case.
06How long does the audit take?
Audits are typically delivered within a few days of receiving your website, target market and competitor list, though the exact timing depends on how many prompts, engines and languages are in scope. The bulk of the work is running each prompt multiple times across several engines and analysing the results carefully, rather than generating a quick automated score. We would rather take an extra day and give you a defensible, dated baseline than hand you a rushed snapshot that misrepresents your position. When you submit the form we confirm scope and a delivery date up front, so you know exactly when to expect the report. If you need it faster for a specific deadline, tell us and we will tell you honestly whether it is feasible.
07What happens after I receive the audit?
Nothing is obligatory. You receive the report, the five-metric baseline and the prioritised fix list, plus an optional walkthrough. From there you have three clear paths: take the fix list to your own team and implement it yourself, commission a GEO Build Sprint so we implement the high-impact items, or move onto a monthly retainer if you want us to track and keep improving your visibility over time. If the audit shows you already perform well, we will say so rather than invent a problem. The audit is designed to give you an honest, evidence-based decision about whether GEO is worth investing in for your category right now, not to push you toward a package.
08Will the audit guarantee I'll start appearing in AI answers?
No. The audit diagnoses the inputs that influence whether engines cite you — entity clarity, extractable content, citation breadth, accurate facts, and crawl access — but it cannot guarantee that fixing them produces a recommendation, because engine behaviour is outside any agency's control and changes over time. Be cautious of anyone who promises a guaranteed outcome from an audit. What the audit reliably delivers is a clear, comparable picture of where you stand today and a ranked list of the actions most likely to improve your odds. Whether those actions move the needle, and how fast, depends on your starting authority, your competition, and how quickly the fixes are implemented. Re-measuring monthly is how you see whether they worked.
09How is this different from a normal SEO audit?
A normal SEO audit checks whether your pages can rank in a list of links — crawlability, titles, backlinks, Core Web Vitals and keyword positions. An AI Visibility Audit checks something different: whether AI engines name and cite your brand inside their answers, and how you compare to competitors across the engines. The two overlap on technical hygiene, but the AI audit adds things an SEO audit ignores: entity consistency across the web, whether your content is structured to be quoted directly, the breadth of trusted third-party mentions, and crawl access for AI-specific bots like GPTBot and PerplexityBot. The output is also different — share of voice and mention/citation rates across AI answers, rather than keyword rankings. See GEO vs SEO for the full comparison.
10What do you need from me to run the audit?
Very little. To get started we need three things: your website, your main target market, and the names of two or three competitors you want to be measured against. That is enough for us to build a realistic prompt set and produce your baseline. If analytics or Search Console access is available and you want an initial read on Conversion Contribution, you can share that too, but it is optional for the audit itself. If you operate in more than one language, telling us early lets us include the right prompts. We handle all the testing, analysis and recommendations; your only real input is accurate information and, if you wish, a quick review of the prompt set before we run it. Then we take it from there.
