Getting cited in AI answers once is not the goal; staying cited is. AI Visibility Monitoring is our monthly retainer: we re-test the same fixed set of buyer prompts across the major AI engines every month and report whether your presence is growing or shrinking, against your competitors, with the numbers to prove it. It turns "are we visible in ChatGPT?" from a guess into a tracked metric. If you've completed a GEO Build Sprint, this is how you protect and extend the gains; if you're starting fresh, it begins with an AI Visibility Audit that sets your baseline.
The problem monitoring solves
AI visibility is not a fixed asset you can earn and forget. Engines retrain and re-rank, retrieval behaviour shifts, competitors publish and earn their own citations, and the information an engine repeats about you can drift or become inaccurate — all without any warning in your analytics, because there was never a click to track. Without monitoring, the first sign that you've lost a cited position is usually a lost deal nobody can explain. A monthly, like-for-like measurement against a fixed prompt set catches the drift early: you see a metric slip before it becomes a revenue problem, and you act on evidence instead of reacting to a quarter-end surprise.
What we track — the five AI Visibility metrics
Our measurement framework is built on five metrics, re-tested every month so each one has a month-over-month delta. Brand Mention Rate — the share of your target prompts where an engine names your brand at all, cited or not. Citation Rate — how often the engine actually links or attributes a source to your website, which is stronger than a bare mention. Share of Voice (SoV) — how often engines name you versus a fixed set of competitors across the same prompts, so you see relative position, not just your own number. Citation Source Distribution — which types of source the engines are pulling from (your own site, directories, reviews, publications, community threads), so you know where to invest. Conversion Contribution — where you've granted analytics access, the organic sessions and qualified leads tied to the pages involved, connecting visibility to business outcomes rather than leaving it as a vanity number.
Our method
We measure the same way every month so the comparison is honest. We run a fixed set of 20–30 real buyer prompts — the questions your customers actually ask — across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Claude. Because LLM answers are non-deterministic, we run each prompt three times and aggregate, rather than trusting a single response, and we re-test monthly on a consistent schedule. The prompt set and competitor list stay fixed unless you ask us to evolve them, which is what makes the month-over-month deltas meaningful. Every result is dated, so you can always see exactly when a reading was taken.
What's in the monthly report
Each month you receive a report built for decisions, not decoration:
- The five metrics, each with its month-over-month delta and a short read on what moved.
- Share of voice versus your named competitors, so you see whether you're gaining or losing ground relative to them.
- New and lost citations — which pages or sources the engines started or stopped citing since last month.
- Source-type shifts — changes in where engines are drawing answers from in your category.
- Accuracy and sentiment changes — whether what the engines say about you is correct and how it's framed.
- A short, prioritised next-actions list — the two or three moves most likely to improve next month's numbers.
Why it's a recurring service (not a one-off)
The honest reason monitoring is monthly is that the thing being measured changes monthly. AI engines update their models and retrieval systems on their own cadence; a prompt that cited you in one model version may cite a competitor after an update. Your competitors are also working — earning citations, publishing content, correcting their entity data — so share of voice is a moving contest, not a finished score. And the facts engines repeat about you can go stale or wrong as your business changes. A single snapshot ages quickly; a monthly cadence keeps the picture current and lets you respond while a change is still cheap to fix. This is the same reason rank tracking became standard in traditional SEO — except AI answers move faster and are less visible by default.
What you receive (deliverables)
- A monthly AI Visibility report covering the five metrics with deltas, SoV, new/lost citations, source-type shifts, accuracy and sentiment, and prioritised next actions.
- A consistent, dated dataset you can audit — no black-box scoring.
- Ongoing execution of the agreed next actions and continued third-party citation work (scope depends on tier).
- A standing line to us for interpretation, so the report is understood, not just delivered.
Why Generative Engine Agency (differentiation)
We compete on method and evidence. We publish our five-metric framework and our testing method openly; our reports are auditable numbers against a fixed prompt set, not a proprietary score you can't interrogate; and we state the non-determinism caveat plainly rather than selling false precision. We will also tell you honestly if monitoring isn't yet worth it for your category — if too few of your buyers research with AI assistants, we'll say so.
Pricing (USD — transparent, confirm before publishing)
| Service | Scope | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| AI Visibility Audit | 20–30 prompts, baseline SOV, prioritised fix list | $300–800 |
| GEO Build Sprint | Citable content, schema, entity/NAP, crawler access, citation groundwork | $1,500–6,000 |
| Monthly Retainer (AI Visibility Monitoring) | Monthly 5-metric tracking + report + next actions + continued citations | $800–4,000/mo |
| Final tier follows your audit and goals. What moves the retainer price: number of prompts and languages tracked, number of engines and competitors, reporting depth, and how much execution (content and citations) is included alongside the tracking. |
An honest note on non-determinism
We will never pretend AI answers are stable when they aren't. The same prompt can return different answers on different runs, for different users, in different locations, and after an engine update. That is why we run each prompt multiple times, aggregate, date every reading, and report ranges and trends rather than a single hero number. It also means a one-month dip is not automatically a failure, and a one-month spike is not automatically a win — the value is in the trend across months, which is exactly what a recurring retainer is designed to capture.
Risks & limitations (so you can decide clearly)
GEO monitoring is newer and less settled than SEO rank tracking. We cannot guarantee that your metrics will improve every month, or that any engine will cite you — we measure the reality honestly and recommend the actions most likely to help. Results depend on your starting position, competition, and how fully you act on the next-actions list. Some engines limit automated querying, so our method reflects practical sampling, not an exhaustive census of every possible answer. And because engine behaviour shifts, monitoring is a discipline you maintain, not a problem you close.

Start with a baseline, then track it monthly
Monitoring only means something against a baseline, so the entry point is an AI Visibility Audit: we establish where you stand today across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews versus your competitors. From there, the monthly retainer keeps the same prompt set under watch and reports the movement. If the audit surfaces big gaps, a GEO Build Sprint fixes them first. New to the category?
